Each month we place an Ayogi in the spotlight. This month, meet David—a member of our Quality Assurance Team at Ayogo whose focus is not only to ensure that our products are of the highest quality but that we are constantly improving on them.
Growing up David dreamed of working in the games/software development industry. He began his journey by studying Information Technology at Vancouver Community College and it was during a practicum that he was introduced to Quality Assurance as well as the founders of Ayogo, Michael Fergusson and Paul Prescod. “It was during my practicum that I got to know Michael and Paul. When they started Ayogo and asked me to join I knew that whatever they were going to do would be successful and that I wanted to be a part of it. That’s one of the things that I’ve enjoyed most so far: being a part of Ayogo’s journey.” Seven years later David is an integral part of Ayogo’s Quality Assurance Team and also lends his skills to help with the Marketing Team with social media.
Q: What are you hoping to achieve while at Ayogo?

To ensure our products are of the highest quality while also continuing to expand my own knowledge and skill set.

Q: In your opinion, what is the biggest challenge in developing behaviour changing software for the healthcare industry?

Making the experience more fun and enjoyable. Eating a healthy diet and regularly exercises can be a challenge but if you make the experience enjoyable they will have a greater chance of sticking to it.

Q: What advice do you have for those who are looking to start their career in Quality Assurance, specifically within the healthcare space?

Spend some time to focus on learning automated testing and security; especially within the healthcare space as security and privacy are incredibly important and require lots of testing. It’s also important to try to put yourself in the end user’s shoes when testing so you can determine if the software will be useful and make sense in their everyday life.
